Top 5 Commercials From Super Bowl 50

The Super Bowl has always been renowned for its high octane entertainment, both on the field and off, in the form of advertisements that have, over the years, really changed the game for brands who get an opportunity to reach millions of viewers, and so ensure that they bring their very best for these TV spots.

There have been some truly amazing commercials in the past, and this year was no different, with a wide variety of adverts that made us laugh and feel in equal measure. Here’s my pick for the top five TV spots, in no particular order:

1. Wix.com : Official Big Game Ad

Wix.com partnered with Dreamworks Animation and promoted the recent release of Kung Fu Panda 3, incorporating its characters in a very humorous and effective manner to show how one can create a beautiful website for their business using the Wix platform. The official big game ad was funny, compelling and memorable, parodying previous famous super bowl commercials as well as explaining the benefits of the product using an engaging and fun story line. This definitely qualifies as advertising done right.

2. Doritos : Ultrasound

The cheesy chip brand hosts the “Crash the Super Bowl Contest” every year, where the audiences submit their own commercials for Doritos and the winner takes home $1 million, as well as gets their commercial aired during the Super Bowl. This year’s winner(there were two, actually, the other, Doritos Dogs, is worth a watch as well) was the hilarious take on an ultrasound that is sure to, uh, make your creative juices flow and help you birth some awesome adverts of your own.

3. Coca-Cola : Brotherly Love

Another Coke advert for the Super Bowl, Hulk vs. The Ant-Man, was supremely entertaining. But this spot, aptly titled “Brotherly Love” is sure to get you right in the feels with a tale of two brothers, the elder of which does his best to make life hard for his younger sibling. That is, until some bullies try and take his Coke. Sentimental ads always do well when done right, and Coke gets this one spot-on.

4. Honda: The Chase

This awesome advert shows off the “Remote Start” feature on the Hyundai Elantra with some aplomb, as two bears are in hot pursuit of a couple who start their car by talking to their watch and get away in the nick of time. The (talking) bears were hungry, well, one of them, anyway; the other was just hungry for love.

5. T-Mobile : Restricted Bling

Drake stars in this stupendously funny commercial that is sure to have to you laughing out loud, as he’s given the changes in the script for his song “Hotline Bling”. He takes it all in his stride, of course, and this just makes it funnier. Brilliantly executed, this is cell phone advertising at its very best.
